Secret Life of Teens Series: Suicide in the Teen Brain

In Suicide in the Teen Brain, we will discuss risk factors that are specific to teens. Pulling from the best experts in this area (teens) and from those working with and studying teen suicidality, you will gain a unique perspective on this topic. Envision Partnerships specializes in prevention and houses the Butler County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

Objectives:
· Identify risk factors for teen suicidality
· Gain knowledge from leading experts (teens) and professionals working in this topic
· Receive resources, both tactical and informational, to address a teen in distress
· Get invited to participate in next Butler County Suicide Prevention Coalition meeting and upcoming QPR Gatekeeper training events

Trainers:
Kristen Smith has been working with teens since she was a teen. Her passion for suicide prevention has grown from working with the many teens whom faced mental health crises. Suicide prevention has also touched her life as a parent. In her present role as a Prevention Coordinator for Envision Partnerships, one of her roles is to chair the Butler County Suicide Prevention Coalition. She is presently leading a grant funded initiative for the coalition to complete a second community readiness survey and study the theory behind coalitions to best function and maximize efforts for suicide prevention in the county. She is also a trained QPR Gatekeeper Training Instructor and coordinates training efforts in the county.
Kristina Latta-Landefeld is the Director of Community Programs. Her background is in coaching rowing and has done so since 2002. With a masters degree in coaching, she has been focused on developing healthy and high-performing individuals, organizations, and communities. This work has prepared her for a career in prevention. Kristina is a trained QPR Gatekeeper Training Instructor and supports the work of the Butler County Suicide Prevention
